Not everyone welcomes the prospect of speaking to a room full of people, but let’s face it - it’s something that pops up on occasion. Aimed at conquering the trembles and sharpening communication skills, we’ve developed Young Guns, a young and bright chapter of Toastmasters International.
Like all Toastmasters clubs, Young Guns isn’t full of confident speakers – that’s the whole point. Our members are bright, easygoing people, keen to conquer their glossophobia (public-speaking-ophobia) with a bit of spit and polish.
Meetings are run by the members – there’s no need for an instructor. People are assigned specific roles for each meeting, so it’s definitely a ‘learn-by-doing’ workshop. By touching on a range of speech topics, Toastmasters tries to help people feel confident in any situation.
